I found New Gen Electric via Facebook, and was impressed by the before and after photos of previous customers. I was looking to replace the old outdated track lighting in my kitchen, and add lighting in my living room as there was none. They were able to come out to my location (outside of Edmonton) and provide me a quote. They were excellent in explaining the process of what they do, and where they would put the lights for maximum efficiency. The quote came back very reasonable for what I wanted and the work involved.

They installed six 4” LED flush mount pot lights in the kitchen. The light output was immediately noticeable and easily double what I had before. It changed not only the light output but the feel of the kitchen making it seem larger as there was no longer lights hanging down. The install was so well done that the lights look as if they have always been there, helping to modernize the house. They also installed Kasa Wi-Fi dimmable smart switches, giving me an outstanding amount of control of the lights through my Google Mini and Google Home app. I can now control my kitchen and living room lights from anywhere. I can also enable routines to have the lights turn on or off at certain times of the day, or before coming home.

The living room had no lights previously and a standing lamp was not cutting it. They installed six 6” LED flush mount pot lights, which provide an incredible amount of light for the space and completely transformed it. Now I will never struggle to have enough light to accomplish a task in the living room. They are also on a Kasa smart switch giving me the same control as the kitchen lights. At my request they also installed a new light fixture in the bathroom and a smart switch on the front outside lights. Their work has transformed and modernized my home, giving me excellent control while home or away.

I plan on hiring them again in the future for other lighting and electrical needs and highly recommend there work.

Job: Installation of 3 new ceiling light fixtures in a room that had no electrical wiring in the ceiling.

We found New Gen Electric through an Instagram Ad. Colin and Justin came into our place, (covid safe), and listened to the details to our work request to have ceiling lights added to our living room (non-existent previously). They began planning it out and provided us with a quote for the work. We were very happy with the quote in terms of price.

Fast forward a few weeks later, we booked them in (on Nov 11 holiday) to come do the work. They had a few plans to go about the installation and finally came up with a solid plan to complete the job. They ran new wiring from an existing outlet through the walls and into the ceiling, added new light switches in the wall and installed electrical connections to 3 points in the ceiling. They made sure to measure correctly, ask questions and update us along the way with any concerns they had, which was great. They actually had the job done a lot faster than we had anticipated and with clean work.

Colin and Justin were very polite and easy to work with. We would definitely hire them again for any future electrical work and recommend them to our friends.

We cannot say enough about New Gen Electric! They installed our slim trim LED lights in our main floor living room with no access overhead and it looks absolutely amazing! They knew exactly what needed to be done and performed the install all while chatting with us. Great personalities and quality work.

I spotted a New Gen post on Facebook and decided to reach out, knowing that we wanted to have some new ceiling lights added in the living room of our late ‘60s home.

Justin and I exchanged a few messages to get details for a quote and while I expected the job to be beyond our budget, there’s no harm in getting a quote, right? I was BLOWN AWAY by how affordable the project was going to be. Between that, and the extremely positive reviews I read about the company, we decided to go ahead.

Justin and Colin came to compete the job and got the majority of the work done, before learning their supplier was out of stock on the pot lights we would need. Totally out do their control, but they still clearly felt bad. Despite a busy schedule with other projects, Justin stayed in touch and as soon as the lights were available, we confirmed an install date (TODAY!).

Colin and Justin competed the install and we are beyond delighted with the end result! I expected there would be a difference, but WHAT A BREATHTAKING CHANGE! We’re already talking about our next project with New Gen!

They responded to my email inquiry right away and made a time to come and do an estimate. Within a short amount of time they replaced my kitchen pot lights and all the smoke detectors in the house. Very professional, polite and great quality work!! I highly recommend New Gen Electric!

We had the pleasure of having New Gen Electric come to our home to remove an old ceiling fan, which was located in a vaulted stairway and install a new ceiling fan/light. My wife and I have been wanting to add recessed lighting to our living room which has never had any ceiling fixtures. We've been putting it off for a long time because we figured it would be a major ordeal, with lots of potential for things to go wrong in our old house.

We decided to finally take the plunge and called New Gen. They installed eight 6-inch LED color selectable downlights and it was quick, professional, and affordable. It took just a few hours. They even took the time to make sure that the new dimmer switch was installed completely level. That kind of attention to detail isn't something that you see that often.

After a couple days of use, we decided that the lighting was a bit too cold for our space. Justin was happy to come by and take care of that, switching them to a warmer 3000K.

We highly recommend New Gen and we will definitely be reaching out to them for some other lighting upgrades in the near future!

We recently had our deck rebuilt (with a new hot tub install) and I am usually a bit pensive when it comes to finding the right people to do the job. Justin and Colin installed the electrical for the tub as well as a few other upgrades. Everything was done with finesse and we couldn't be happier with the result. Nice guys all around. Hire them!
